The Way

Very generally, Tae Kwon Do means "The Way of Kicking and Punching." In the traditional sense, it is a hard style martial art that carries emphasis on hard strikes with the hand and high, flashy kicks with the feet. In our school, we take a very eclectic approach to the martial art. We definitely include all the fundamentals of Tae Kwon Do such as kicks, hand strikes, blocks, katas (formation of movements), sparring, etc. However, it is our belief that these fundamentals alone do not make for a well-rounded martial artist. So, we add many "extras" into our curriculum to give students a balance. Some of these extras include joint locking of Hapkido, sweeps and throwing of Judo, basic trapping drills of Jeet Kun Do, and various weapons from many backgrounds. Besides technique and curriculum, we also encourage a strong sense of family at our school. All interactions among students and instructors are based on respect and understanding. We not only strive to make good martial artists, but we want to help develop respectful and respectable students. Tae Kwon Do is a very physical art that is great for students of all ages. It is a tremendous style for students who wish to gain discipline and enjoy a good workout.
